Framed as a measure to crack down on paedophiles, the controversial Declaration calls on the EU to require that search engines store all search traffic for up to two years for possible analysis by authorities.

State of Missouri Goes for State Constitutional Amendment - Affirming State's Right via 10th Amendment to U.S. Constitution -
In light of the facts of recent times, primarily after Sept. 11, 2001, many states are angry at the overreaching, and unconstitutional laws, rules and regulations that have been adopted by the federal government.
Missouri is one of many states that are 'affirming' their rights under the 10th amendment to the U.S. Constitution - but also proposing an amendment to the Missouri State Constitution, with a plethora of items for Missouri citizens.
Bold move indeed, but necessary

French Minister Hortefeux Fined for Racism

"A French court has fined Interior Minister Brice Hortefeux for making racist comments about a young party activist of Algerian origin.
The court fined Mr Hortefeux 750 euros (£622) and ordered that he pay 2,000 euros to an anti-racism group.
'Our little Arab'
Mr Hortefeux was joking with a small group of activists from the ruling UMP party in south-west France.
Immediately before Mr Hortefeux's controversial remark, one activist is heard saying: "Amin is a Catholic. He eats pork and drinks alcohol."
Mr Hortefeux then says: "Ah, well that won't do at all. He doesn't match the prototype."
A woman is then heard to say: "He is one of us... he is our little Arab."
The interior minister then says: "We always need one. It's when there are lots of them that there are problems."
The court ruled that his remark was "incontestably offensive, if not contemptuous".
The court did not issue a criminal conviction, judging that Mr Hortefeux had not intended the comments to be heard in public.
It found him guilty instead of the lesser offence of racial insult, AFP news agency reported.

The proposal for the United Nations to accept "ecocide" as a fifth "crime against peace", which could be tried at the International Criminal Court (ICC), is the brainchild of British lawyer-turned-campaigner Polly Higgins.
The radical idea would have a profound effect on industries blamed for widespread damage to the environment like fossil fuels, mining, agriculture, chemicals and forestry.

Democrats Propose Using Biometric Marker on Social Security Card to Stem Tide of Illegal Immigration

" The Democrats' immigration-reform proposal (pdf) is 26 pages long. Pages 8 through 18 are devoted to "ending illegal employment through biometric employment verification." I don't think the Democrats are going to like me calling this a biometric national ID card, as they go to great lengths to say that it is not a national ID card, and make it "unlawful for any person, corporation; organization local, state, or federal law enforcement officer; local or state government; or any other entity to require or even ask an individual cardholder to produce their social security card for any purpose other than electronic verification of employment eligibility and verification of identity for Social Security Administration purposes."
But it's still a biometric national ID card. It's handed out by the Social Security Administration and employers are required to check it when hiring new employees. Essentially, if you want to participate in the American economy, you need this card. "Within five (5) years of the date of enactment, the fraud-proof social security card will serve as the sole acceptable document to be produced by an employee to an employer for employment verification purposes," the bill says......"

Rights Groups Oppose Proposed Biometric Social Security Cards

"A coalition of more than 40 privacy and civil liberties groups are asking President Obama and key lawmakers to reject the idea of requiring everyone working in the United States to have a Social Security card bearing biometric information, such as a fingerprint.
The groups, which include the American Library Association and Americans for Tax Reform, oppose a provision that Sens. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., and Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., plan to put in legislation overhauling the nation's immigration laws.
Schumer has said a fraud-proof card with a stored "unique biometric identifier" is a necessary part of immigration reform. Employers would be able to swipe the card through a machine to confirm someone's identity and immigration status.
"No one disputes that our broken immigration system harms both immigrants and non-immigrants, but a full scale National ID system is not the solution," the groups said in a letter sent on Tuesday to Obama and the House and Senate Judiciary committees, House Ways and Means Committee and Senate Finance Committee......"

FBI Announces Operational Status of its National Information Sharing System

"Washington , DC -- The FBI announced today further implementation of the National Information Sharing Strategy (NISS). Within the NISS framework, the first Regional Data Exchange, or R-DEx, became operational in St. Louis during the last week of February, 2005. Late this summer, R-DEx will link with the Naval Criminal Investigative Services' Law Enforcement Information Exchange (LInX), which serves as the Seattle region's NCIS and local and regional law enforcement sharing system.
The FBI plans to further enhance R-DEx through the addition of DEA, ATF, US Marshals, and Bureau of Prison investigative data. R-DEx will serve as the first of several systems contributing Department of Justice's Law Enforcement Information Sharing Program (LEISP). R-DEx will give state, local, and tribal law enforcement appropriate access to federal investigative and intelligence information that is critical to protecting our nation. R-DEx provides detectives, investigators, and analysts the ability to view the linkage across multiple cases and their jurisdictions. These links include individuals, vehicles, weapons, addresses, phone numbers or other types of links. The new program also allows cases to be plotted on to maps in order to identify geographical patterns or links.
The FBI's Chief Information Officer, Zalmai Azmi, stated: "One of the strongest defenses the United States has in our efforts against terrorism is to ensure that law enforcement agencies have the information they need to detect and prevent possible threats. R-DEx is a major step towards the goal of open information sharing between law enforcement agencies across the country. The FBI will continue to increase access between R-DEx and other regional state, local and tribal law enforcement systems."....."
(Ed. Note: - Although this is from 2005, it shows that the feds are sharing information across the board, all in the name of 'fighting terrorism' - the 'bogey man' that will last forever. After the 'Patriot Act' was signed into law, it was said that it WOULD NOT be used against American citizens - but after you see the MIAC report - ironically, here, from Missouri, you start to realize that they are lying, and are hell bent on accusing citizens who have a beef with the government, of being 'potential terrorists'!)

Fourth New Orleans Police Officer Charged in Danziger Bridge Case -

WASHINGTON—A one-count bill of information filed today in federal court charges New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) Officer Robert Barrios with conspiring with fellow NOPD officers to obstruct justice by covering up a police-involved shooting in the days after Hurricane Katrina, the Justice Department announced today.
The Sept. 4, 2005, shooting on the Danziger Bridge left two civilians dead and four others seriously injured. According to the bill of information, Barrios and other officers rode in a large Budget rental truck to the Danziger Bridge, where they encountered a group of civilians who were walking across the bridge to get food and supplies from a supermarket.
On the east side of the bridge, officers fired at the group of civilians, killing one man and seriously wounding four members of a family. Officers then traveled to the west side of the bridge, where they encountered Lance and Ronald Madison, who were crossing the bridge on their way to the dentistry office of one of their other brothers. On the west side of the bridge, an officer shot and killed Ronald Madison, a 40-year-old man with severe mental and physical disabilities.
The bill of information charges Barrios with agreeing with other officers to obstruct justice during the investigations that followed the shooting....."

"About 1,000 American-born children are forced into the sex trade in Ohio every year and about 800 immigrants are sexually exploited and pushed into sweatshop-type jobs, a new report on human trafficking in the state said Wednesday.
Ohio's weak laws on human trafficking, its growing demand for cheap labor and its proximity to the Canadian border are key contributors to the illegal activity, according to a report by the Trafficking in Persons Study Commission......"

University Pledges Independent Review of Climate Research

"The man in charge of the scientific investigation into the stolen “climategate” emails has vigorously defended his inquiry against suggestions that it might not be seen as being truly independent by an increasingly sceptical public.
Sir Muir Russell, a former senior civil servant and university vice chancellor, said that his review into the scientific implications of the stolen emails has complete freedom of inquiry and will be fiercely independent despite the fact that its costs are being met by the university under investigation.....
.....One member of the Muir review, Philip Campbell, is also editor-in-chief of the journal Nature, where many of the climate studies have been published, including those written by the suspended head of the research unit, Professor Phil Jones, who has also served as an anonymous peer-reviewer for the journal. ......"

Police in the UK are planning to use unmanned spy drones, controversially deployed in Afghanistan, for the "routine" monitoring of antisocial motorists, protesters, agricultural thieves and fly-tippers, in a significant expansion of covert state surveillance.
The arms manufacturer BAE Systems, which produces a range of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for war zones, is adapting the military-style planes for a consortium of government agencies led by Kent police.....
....They also indicate that police claims that the technology will be used for maritime surveillance fall well short of their intended use – which could span a range of police activity – and that officers have talked about selling the surveillance data to private companies......
Previously, Kent police has said the drone scheme was intended for use over the English Channel to monitor shipping and detect immigrants crossing from France. However, the documents suggest the maritime focus was, at least in part, a public relations strategy designed to minimise civil liberty concerns......."

In light of the facts of recent times, primarily after Sept. 11, 2001, many states are angry at the overreaching, and unconstitutional laws, rules and regulations that have been adopted by the federal government.
Missouri is one of many states that are 'affirming' their rights under the 10th amendment to the U.S. Constitution - but also proposing an amendment to the Missouri State Constitution, with a plethora of items for Missouri citizens.

French Minister Hortefeux Fined for Racism

"A French court has fined Interior Minister Brice Hortefeux for making racist comments about a young party activist of Algerian origin.
The court fined Mr Hortefeux 750 euros (£622) and ordered that he pay 2,000 euros to an anti-racism group.
'Our little Arab'
Mr Hortefeux was joking with a small group of activists from the ruling UMP party in south-west France.
Immediately before Mr Hortefeux's controversial remark, one activist is heard saying: "Amin is a Catholic. He eats pork and drinks alcohol."
Mr Hortefeux then says: "Ah, well that won't do at all. He doesn't match the prototype."
A woman is then heard to say: "He is one of us... he is our little Arab."
The interior minister then says: "We always need one. It's when there are lots of them that there are problems."
The court ruled that his remark was "incontestably offensive, if not contemptuous".
The court did not issue a criminal conviction, judging that Mr Hortefeux had not intended the comments to be heard in public.
It found him guilty instead of the lesser offence of racial insult, AFP news agency reported.

Democrats Propose Using Biometric Marker on Social Security Card to Stem Tide of Illegal Immigration

" The Democrats' immigration-reform proposal (pdf) is 26 pages long. Pages 8 through 18 are devoted to "ending illegal employment through biometric employment verification." I don't think the Democrats are going to like me calling this a biometric national ID card, as they go to great lengths to say that it is not a national ID card, and make it "unlawful for any person, corporation; organization local, state, or federal law enforcement officer; local or state government; or any other entity to require or even ask an individual cardholder to produce their social security card for any purpose other than electronic verification of employment eligibility and verification of identity for Social Security Administration purposes."
But it's still a biometric national ID card. It's handed out by the Social Security Administration and employers are required to check it when hiring new employees. Essentially, if you want to participate in the American economy, you need this card. "Within five (5) years of the date of enactment, the fraud-proof social security card will serve as the sole acceptable document to be produced by an employee to an employer for employment verification purposes," the bill says......"

Rights Groups Oppose Proposed Biometric Social Security Cards

"A coalition of more than 40 privacy and civil liberties groups are asking President Obama and key lawmakers to reject the idea of requiring everyone working in the United States to have a Social Security card bearing biometric information, such as a fingerprint.
The groups, which include the American Library Association and Americans for Tax Reform, oppose a provision that Sens. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., and Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., plan to put in legislation overhauling the nation's immigration laws.
Schumer has said a fraud-proof card with a stored "unique biometric identifier" is a necessary part of immigration reform. Employers would be able to swipe the card through a machine to confirm someone's identity and immigration status.
"No one disputes that our broken immigration system harms both immigrants and non-immigrants, but a full scale National ID system is not the solution," the groups said in a letter sent on Tuesday to Obama and the House and Senate Judiciary committees, House Ways and Means Committee and Senate Finance Committee......"

"Washington , DC -- The FBI announced today further implementation of the National Information Sharing Strategy (NISS). Within the NISS framework, the first Regional Data Exchange, or R-DEx, became operational in St. Louis during the last week of February, 2005. Late this summer, R-DEx will link with the Naval Criminal Investigative Services' Law Enforcement Information Exchange (LInX), which serves as the Seattle region's NCIS and local and regional law enforcement sharing system.
The FBI plans to further enhance R-DEx through the addition of DEA, ATF, US Marshals, and Bureau of Prison investigative data. R-DEx will serve as the first of several systems contributing Department of Justice's Law Enforcement Information Sharing Program (LEISP). R-DEx will give state, local, and tribal law enforcement appropriate access to federal investigative and intelligence information that is critical to protecting our nation. R-DEx provides detectives, investigators, and analysts the ability to view the linkage across multiple cases and their jurisdictions. These links include individuals, vehicles, weapons, addresses, phone numbers or other types of links. The new program also allows cases to be plotted on to maps in order to identify geographical patterns or links.
The FBI's Chief Information Officer, Zalmai Azmi, stated: "One of the strongest defenses the United States has in our efforts against terrorism is to ensure that law enforcement agencies have the information they need to detect and prevent possible threats. R-DEx is a major step towards the goal of open information sharing between law enforcement agencies across the country. WASHINGTON—A one-count bill of information filed today in federal court charges New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) Officer Robert Barrios with conspiring with fellow NOPD officers to obstruct justice by covering up a police-involved shooting in the days after Hurricane Katrina, the Justice Department announced today.
The Sept. 4, 2005, shooting on the Danziger Bridge left two civilians dead and four others seriously injured. According to the bill of information, Barrios and other officers rode in a large Budget rental truck to the Danziger Bridge, where they encountered a group of civilians who were walking across the bridge to get food and supplies from a supermarket.
On the east side of the bridge, officers fired at the group of civilians, killing one man and seriously wounding four members of a family. Officers then traveled to the west side of the bridge, where they encountered Lance and Ronald Madison, who were crossing the bridge on their way to the dentistry office of one of their other brothers. On the west side of the bridge, an officer shot and killed Ronald Madison, a 40-year-old man with severe mental and physical disabilities.
The bill of information charges Barrios with agreeing with other officers to obstruct justice during the investigations that followed the shooting....."
